Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
We treat various sport and tendon injuries as well as back pain
Sports physiotherapy
Our Physiotherapists specialise in giving advice on returning to sports such as running, tennis or golf.
When we get injured we suddenly realise how much we miss the sport we used to enjoy. Recovering from an injury can often be immensely frustrating, especially when that pain prolongs our journey back to the sport we love. Premature return, or inadequate preparation can cause a relapse or can lead to the strain of another part of your body.
To ensure a smooth return to the activity, we provide our patients with a rehabilitation routine that is sport specific. This will facilitate recovery of movement such as the explosive trunk rotation required to hit a long drive in golf, a lunge forward to reach a low volley when playing tennis, or the correct engagement of hip muscles when running.
Back pain
Back pain is very common and can often improve on its own within a few days or weeks. However, this is not always the case, and when back pain stops you from performing your day-to-day activities, it is sensible to get some advice.
When you attend your Initial Assessment we will undertake a relevant medical history review, and usually spend approximately 30 minutes on a detailed examination.
Once we have established why you are suffering from back pain, we will give you advice on how to reduce your pain, determine what may be contributing to your pain, and explain how the pain can be minimised or eliminated altogether.
In the second part of the Initial Assessment we allocate time for local treatment with manual therapy, and demonstrate specific therapeutic exercises which you can do to help improve your problem.
Tendon rehabilitation
At our clinic, we provide comprehensive tendon rehabilitation. Tendons connect your muscles with your bones, and even though they are extremely tough, when they are overloaded or used incorrectly they can get injured or show signs of wear and pain.
Those who have experienced tendinopathies (tendon injuries) know that treatment can, unfortunately, be very lengthy.
To ensure the most efficient recovery, we will provide you with exercises that will help to offload the injured tendon.
Tendon rehabilitation may require you to follow a regular exercise regimen which will facilitate in healing the tendon.
Once you are ready to return to your activity, we will help plan your return to the sport and advise you on the recommended activity frequency and intensity to prevent re-injury.
